What is a remanufactured toner cartridge?
A remanufactured toner cartridge is a used cartridge that has been completely re-built. What is an OEM or new cartridge?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer such as Hewlett Packard, Xerox, Lexmark or Canon. An OEM or new cartridge is built from scratch by the manufacturer.

What is the difference between new, OEM, generic, compatible, remanufactured and recycled cartridges?
New or OEM - Original Equipment Manufacture cartridges are made for the OEM's own branded printer. For example, a Canon cartridge is made for a specific Canon printer.
Generic - Generic cartridges are cartridges made 100% new. They are clearly labeled as being made by one company for another company's printer. Examples of Generic Cartridges would be Katun and ProColour Cartridges. These cartridges are made to be used in Hewlett Packard Printers.
Compatible / Remanufactured / Recycled - any cartridge that makes use of an empty cartridge or cartridge case but contains new components. This includes cartridges that are produced by companies such as Xerox, Lexmark or ATM Laser to be used in Hewlett Packard printers.
Counterfeit - Any cartridge that is manufactured by someone other than the Original Equipment Manufacturer and sold as a new product in either the original packaging or close to the original packaging to give the impression that it is a new, OEM product. These are generally poor quality generic cartridges or refilled cartridges. These cartridges are illegal and should be avoided.

Will the use of a remanufactured toner cartridge void my printer's warranty?
NO, NO, NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT! The use of a remanufactured cartridge does NOT void your printer's warranty in any way. In fact, it is against the law (the Sherman and Clayton Anti-Trust Acts) for a manufacturer to dictate what brand of supplies you use in your printers. Below is an example of how HP themselves admit that the use of a non-HP toner cartridge will not void their warranty.
Use of Non-HP
Any repair needed to your printer that is directly related to one of our remanufactured toner cartridges will be done at no charge by our technicians. Please see our Warranty for details.

Why should I use a remanufactured toner cartridge?
Using a remanufactured toner cartridge not only saves you money (30% - 50%) but it also helps save the environment. Remanufacturing a toner cartridge takes up to 20 times less energy than producing a new cartridge, not to mention that it alleviates America's land fills. Do compatible or remanufactured cartridges have the same quality and last as long as the OEM?

How is a Toner Cartridge remanufactured?
Different companies have different standards to their remanufacturing process. At ATM Laser Products, each of our toner cartridges produced adhere to the following process:
Only OEM or All American Toner cartridge casings are used. Because we can not guarantee that other remanufacturing facilities use the same scrutiny as we do, we do not use their empties in our process. Instead, we ship those empties to other facilities that do not have that requirement.
The cartridge casing is disassembled and thoroughly cleaned before reassembly.
All parts are inspected and replaced as necessary. A new or certified OPC drum is installed in every cartridge to ensure optimum performance and yields.
Cartridges are filled with custom blended toner that is chemically designed to match that of the OEM toner specifications. Gram weights of the toner used are always as much or more than that of the OEM cartridges.
All of our cartridges contain a micro chip that enables the remanufactured cartridge to function as well as an OEM cartridge.
Cartridges are sealed to prevent leakage during transit.
Every cartridge contains a Serial Number so that we can track its performance.
All cartridges are labeled with part numbers and company information.
Every single cartridge in our facility is quality tested for optimum performance. Our LT -777 testing machine is considered industry-wide to be the best method for quality testing. It is a paperless system that allows us to test each individual component for defects.
All cartridges are foam packaged to ensure that no damage is done through shipping or transit.

How long can I store a toner cartridge before using it?
We warrant our Toner Cartridges for the period of one year of purchasing it but we recommend using it within six months. Performance of a cartridge deteriorates over time so be sure to rotate your stock and use the oldest cartridge first. Also be sure to store the cartridge in a place that maintains room temperature. Extreme exposure to light, heat or cold will diminish performance over time. It is best if you keep the toner cartridge sealed in its bag until it is ready to be used.

What is MICR?
MICR is actually an acronym for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. MICR is a process by which documents are printed using magnetic ink and special fonts to create machine readable information for quick document processing. The most popular use of MICR toner is to print accounting and routing information on bank checks and other negotiable documents. MICR toner is the most integral component of MICR printing.
|
|
How does MICR toner differ from standard laser toner?
MICR toner contains an iron oxide that permits the "bank line" information of a check to be read by electronic bank processing equipment. MICR toner is similar to standard laser printer toner, but requires a 50% to 60% iron oxide additive content to meet ANSI specifications for readability standards.

What should we do with our empty cartridges?
DON'T THROW THEM AWAY!! ATM Laser has a free cartridge collection program that keeps those cartridges from being dumped into a landfill. Our manufacturing center saves water, energy and waste by utilizing empty cartridges in our remanufacturing process. Each year, millions of cubic feet of non-biodegradable laserjet and inkjet cartridges are thrown into U. S. landfills. By giving your cartridges to us, you are helping our environment by reducing non-biodegradable waste. Cartridges are made of plastic, iron, and aluminum parts. None of these parts are biodegradable but ALL are recyclable. For more details on the environmental benefits of remanufactured cartridges, please go to our Environmental Benefits page.

Can you fix my printer?
Yes we can. Our technicians can repair and service most brands and models of printers, fax machines and plotters. We are Authorized Service Providers for Hewlett Packard, Xerox and Brother. Our repair services can be done either on-site at your home or office, or here in our workshop. Loaner machines are also available in circumstances where your printer needs major repairs.
|
|
Does your company give estimates on repairs?
ATM Laser does offer an in-shop diagnosis fee for $35.00. This fee is due up front when the machine is dropped off at our service center. If the estimated costs end up being more than you intended to spend, then ATM Laser will handle the disposal of your old machine. If you decide to go ahead with the repair, that $35.00 is dissolved and you are only responsible for the cost of labor and parts. The $35.00 you previously paid is then applied to your bill.

|

What is the difference from turning off my inkjet printer by using the power strip vs the machine's on/off switch?
Using the printer's on/off switch initiates shutdown cycle. During that cycle the printer covers it's ink nozzles so that ink doesn't dry in them. When you shut off electricity to the printer from the power strip, the printer does not initiate the shutdown cycle. Therefore, the nozzles are left open to air and have a tendency to dry out. Once they dry out, you are forced to run the cleaning cycles on a fairly regular basis. Cleaning cycles do waste ink and therefore increases your operating costs.
